Adil Jalilov

Head of factcheck.kz. Director and co-founder of MediaNet International Centre for Journalism Public Foundation, media trainer, editor. Founder of MediaSchool (independent journalism courses under MediaNet International Centre for Journalism Public Foundation). Chairman of Media Alliance of Kazakhstan. Graduated from Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University with PhD in Literature theory and received Doctor degree from University of Dortmund.

Pavel Bannikov

Editor-in-chief. Linguist, journalist editor, social marketer, content-engineer, trainer. Editor and compiler of numerous researches in linguistics (hate speech), social sciences, social media and journalism. In 2017—2019 trained more than 500 journalists, civil- and human rights activists and OSCE scholarship holders in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Russia. Co-author of Factcheck.Academy online media-literacy course (in conjunction with Christiaan Triebert/ BellingCat).

Duman Smakov

Editor-in chief of Kazakh version of Factcheck.kz. Graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with BA in Journalism. Published in various Kazakh newspapers and magazines. Since 2015 works as a staff manager in International Center for Journalism “MediaNet”. Winner of international writing contest “Zhaukazin” and Presidential scholarship in journalism from the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy. Co-author of several books – “Ak zhelkenin ulandari”, “Zhaukazin zhilda guldeydi”, “Talpanis tinisi”.

Adviser to the Chairman of the Board of the newspaper Egemen Qazaqstan. Graduated from Leeds University with Master degree in International Journalism. Author of the book “The Syndrome of 90th minute”.

Alyona Subbotina

Graduated from Kagaranda State University named after E.A. Buketov where she studied Russian philology. Published in “Toy”, “Kursiv”, today.kz.

Andrei Grishin

Editor and journalist at Kazakhstan International bureau for human rights and rule of law. Worked in media monitor on ethnical situation for the office of the OSCE High commissioner on national minorities. Covered the presidential and parliament elections as an independent observer in Kazakhstan and abroad. Holds trainings for journalists on human rights.

Assel Janabayeva

Journalist at factcheck.kz. Worked as a project manager at “International Center for Journalism “MediaNet”. Graduated with distinction from the Kazakh State Academy of Management. In 2017-2018 participant of School for Multimedia Journalism iMedia (Project of University of Missouri and Kazakhstan Press Club).

Aygerim Mekisheva

Journalist and fact-checker. Holds MA degree in media management from Westminster University. Project manager of Kazakhstani version of paper magazine “Project  Syndicate: 2019 a year ahead. The great disruption”.

Bella Orynbetova

PhD, Senior teacher of Journalism and Politology faculties ENU after L. N. Gumilev. Researches the issues of networks information security in Kazakhstan. Host and editor of programme “Online” on Kazakh Radio, author of the Internet projects such as catalogue of the website sanaq.kz editor of arular.kz and el.kz.

Gulmira Birzhanova

Lawyer, expert in national and international media law, co-founder of the “Legal media center” NGO. Member of the working groups which develop draft laws “On access to information”, “On changes to law of the Republic of Kazakhstan regarding information and communications”, “On internet governance”.

Gulmira Kamzieva

Graduated from Almaty Institute for International Journalism in 1998. Worked as a news reporter in “Radio Azattyk” (Radio Liberty), Internews Kazakhstan. Author of the TV program “100 nations of Kazakhstan”.

Margarita Bocharova

Journalist. Holds Master’s Degree in Regional Studies and Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Kazakh-German University.

Shyngys Ualikhan

Journalist. Works at NGO Zertteu Research Institute.

Snezhana Tsoy

Journalist at Factcheck.kz, project manager for MediaNet International Centre for Journalism, coordinator of Demoscope Bureau of Express Monitoring of Public Opinion. Graduated from Kyrgyz National University in Bishkek with major in public policy.

Viktoriya Li

Journalist at factcheck.kz, media trainer. Worked as a project manager at “International Center for Journalism “MediaNet”. Graduated from “DocDocDoc”, Saint Petersburg documentary photography and photojournalism school, and Media School of MediaNet ICJ. Currently obtaining a degree in Computer Science in the University of London.  

Viktoriya Rusakova

Journalist. Graduate of the Media School of MediaNet ICJ (2015). Worked in the NGO Youth
Information Service of Kazakhstan, at different times collaborated with several
Kazakhstan media. Studied Journalism at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Yelizaveta Tsoy

Studies History at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Completed the journalism course at MediaSchool organized by International Center for Journalism “MediaNet”. Publishes at vlast.kz.

Zhanserik Tleukhan

Studied Journalism in Suleyman Demirel University. Participant of media literacy and fact-checking trainings organized by International Center for Journalism “MediaNet”. Since 2017 journalist at factcheck.kz.
